Aims and Objectives

‘Beyond Skin’ is a non-profit organisation founded in January 2004 in response to the growing problem of racial tensions in Belfast city. Realising the power of the universal language of music and art and how they transcend religious and cultural borders, Beyond Skin set out to use the arts to identify positive attributes reflected from a City made up of different cultures, the aim being to reveal the unity in the diversity.
‘Beyond Skin’ is a non-profit organisation, therefore we apply for grants and funding for each specific project we undertake. Relationships are a priority for ‘Beyond Skin’ so communication with other communities within Northern Ireland is key. We also take great care into researching an idea, and make a point to involve other organisations, respecting the fact that they will have experience in other areas and also advice beneficial to the project in hand.
