This course aims to enable you to work effectively with service users from where they are 'at' at any particular time. Learning gained will influence the ability of the individual and their organisation to meet the requirements of Supporting People.

You will receive training in the following areas:

  • The range of interpersonal skills required for effective working with service users
  • Motivational Interviewing
  • The stages of changing behaviour and goal setting
  • Supporting consenting individuals to change problematic behaviour

Training methods will include guided group discussion, presentations, an audio interview and an exercise in pairs.
