Concordia

Concordia's mission is to improve Northern Ireland's social and economic situation for the benefit of the whole community by becoming more outward looking and sustainable. It is a partnership of top level business, agriculture, trade union and voluntary organisations. It represents issues that affect individuals in every social and political stratum and puts essential political leverage behind them.

Brief history

The group first met as a loose arrangement in 1995 as the Peace I funding programme developed (the first EU peace and reconciliation funding for Ireland). Since then, it has acted on a range of issues to create a stronger voice for civil society in Northern Ireland. In October 2003, Concordia established the Partnership for Progress project to create a more cohesive approach to local problem solving and liaison with government and the EU.
