Ballymena North Multi-Purpose Community Resource & Business Development Centre.

In geographic terms, Ballymena North is the area of the town bounded by the Doury Road, the Cushendall Road, Parkway and Grove Road. It sits within the Electoral wards of Dunclug and Fairgreen and includes the housing estates of Doury Road, Dunclug, Adair and the Rectory with an estimated population of 1,500 households.

Ballymena northAs a result an extensive Community Audit and Development Plan process which was completed in 2002 the key priorities identified were the provision of affordable childcare facilities, sport and recreational facilities and employment opportunities, and the concept of a multi-purpose building emerged comprising the following:

  • A 4 badminton court sports hall
  • A dedicated day care facility for 24 children
  • Central refreshment area and kitchen
  • Meeting/training rooms
  • Office accommodation
  • Reception and business units
  • Facilities for a full range of advisory services

Funding was secured from International Fund for Ireland, Sports Council Lottery Fund, Department of Enterprise Trade and Investment and Ballymena Local Strategy Partnership and the construction phase was completed in April 2006.
