Better funding arrangements needed

Funding cuts will be high on the agenda on 19 June 2008 at the Assembly’s Social Development Committee, which is meeting at NICVA, 61 Duncairn Gardens, Belfast. NICVA will use the opportunity to point out that many organisations are facing the end of funding programmes in the very near future and there are few alternative sources of funding available. Vital work such as peace building, work with victims, community development and community learning will be left under threat, with no mainstream government money filling the hole left by the ending of funding streams.

Can you help?

It would greatly help our cause if any groups who are facing cuts, especially cuts imposed by public sector ‘efficiency savings’, would share their stories. Naturally these will be kept anonymous unless you tell us otherwise, but it would really help the Committee to see how bad the funding picture is.

NICVA will use your evidence to urge the Northern Ireland Executive to take a co-ordinated and strategic approach to the sector and its future needs.
