Specific funding should be allocated and a special Minister appointed to achieve the sustainable development strategy, says Northern Ireland Environment Link.
In a new report, policy priorities for Northern Ireland’s environment – the way ahead 2008, it also urges the Assembly to commit Northern Ireland to meeting an 80% reduction in carbon emissions by 2050.
The report sets out the context, challenges and opportunities on a number of topics – sustainable development, climate change, planning and environmental governance – followed by proposed actions.
It was written by NIEL and its member organisations and gives a good summary for anyone who is not closely involved with the issues.
