Putting men’s issues on the policy agenda

NICVA Small Logo

A new policy forum for organisations working with men met for the first time in NICVA on 4 March.

Many practitioners in the men's sector find themselves isolated and working on the margins without supportive resources or a supportive policy context for their endeavours. NICVA has developed a new policy forum in partnership with these practitioners to enhance the capacity of men's organisations to make policy responses and participate in policy development.

Priorities

Representatives from organisations working with men met at NICVA on 4 March to discuss the way forward. It was agreed to meet four times a year, focussing on the priorities featured in NICVA's policy manifesto.

Future meetings will be chaired jointly by Colin Fowler of the Men's Project, and Michael McKenna from Youth Action. The forum's first focus will be a response to the proposals for the reform of health and social care in Northern Ireland.
