If you’ve ever pondered...
...whether the installation of energy-saving light bulbs would either make an impact on your energy costs or your environmental footprint, one organisation is preparing to remove any reason you may have had for not finding out.
The Northern Ireland Energy Agency (NIEA) has launched a genuinely amazing Low Energy Giveaway Lighting Scheme, to supply long life low energy bulbs to non-profit organisations for onward distribution.
The bulb on offer is rated at 20 watts, with a light emission similar to a filament-based 100W bulb- reducing energy usage by 80%. The beauty of this light isn’t just in energy efficiency, however, but in longevity; it’s designed to have a twelve year useful life, roughly twelve times longer than a normal incandescent unit. To put a long story mercifully short, these bulbs offer an effective energy saving for your organisation, and would save cash per unit… if you couldn’t get them free.
The minimum request from the NIEA for bulbs is 100 units, and the programme is designed to raise awareness of energy efficiency and the carbon wastage reduction value of these compact fluorescent bulbs; the allocation is shipped direct from Osram to the non profit organisation, for unpaid onward distribution to clients of the organisation.
Allocation of bulbs is on a strictly first come, first served basis; if you want to save money and promote energy efficiency for free, contact raymondg@energyadvice.org
