Designed to inspire and encourage the next crop of young entrepreneurs, Business Boot Camp is being piloted in East, West and North Belfast including the Greater Shankill and Rathcoole areas.

The Programme is managed by Advantage Northern Ireland in partnership with Renewing Communities and is funded by Invest Northern Ireland.

Business Boot Camp

The key aim of Business Boot Camp, the first of its kind, is to encourage young people from disadvantaged areas across the city to consider starting a business as a viable career option.

Commenting on Business Boot Camp, Gerry Ford, Director, Advantage NI, said:

"We are co-ordinating a number of fun, activity-based impact days as part of Boot Camp, to give young people a real insight into what is involved in running a business.

"Whilst participants will have fun and get the chance to go kayaking, rallying, surfing and even have a beauty treatment, the impact days have been designed so that participants will immerse themselves in a real business for the day and get a true sense from the owners as to what is involved in setting up and running the venture.

"The intention is to inspire and motivate more young people to consider starting a business in the future."

Graham Davis, Invest NI’s Director of Local Economic Development, said:

"Invest NI is committed to promoting a culture of enterprise among the youth of Northern Ireland. This initiative provides motivation for these young people as they see successful businesses in operation.

"It compliments the theoretical business knowledge that they have, as they are placed in an entrepreneurial environment throughout the week."

Delighted to be hosting the impact day, Kevin said:

"I am thrilled to be involved in the Business Boot Camp impact days and to be able to share some of my experiences of running my own business with these young entrepreneurs of the future.

"Many have shown tremendous enthusiasm, curiosity and willingness to learn about the various stages and skills required to set up and run a successful business."
