The Equality Commission for Northern Ireland invites you to have your say…

Section 75 of the Northern Ireland Act 1998, the public authority equality duty, came about to make sure that government works towards the promotion of equality of opportunity and good relations, and in doing so, takes into account the views of people in Northern Ireland. However, we need to make sure that we make best use of Section 75. That is why the Commission is currently looking at how effective it has been.

We hope you’ll be able to come along to one of the public sessions. Please contact Clare Molloy at

The big question is, to what extent has Section 75 had a positive effect on people’s lives? The review gives us the opportunity to find out. And since Section 75 affects all of us, it’s important that as part of the review we hear as many views as possible about the difference it has made.

The Commission is working in partnership with The Place Initiative in Portadown, the Confederation of Community Groups in Newry, Ballymena Local Strategy Partnership, and the North West Community Network in Londonderry to host a series of public events to find out about the impact of Section 75 on people across Northern Ireland.
