The Consumer Council has called for consumers to contact them with their complaints following Tuesday’s heavy rainfall.

The Consumer Council is the statutory body for water and sewarage services and can get answers from Northern Ireland Water for consumers affected by the flooding.

Eleanor Gill, Chief Executive of the Consumer Council said:

"We have been working on the ground since early morning with very distressed people and getting a sense of the terrible situation households have been dealing with in the aftermath of Tuesday’s heavy rainfall.

“The Consumer Council has been dealing with complaints throughout the day and what we are hearing from water consumers is that they feel a sense of isolation and fear that this may happen again.

“Water consumers can be confident that the Consumer Council will work on their behalf to ensure that their voice is heard and that their experiences will be conveyed to the Northern Ireland Executive who have demonstrated leadership in addressing this situation as a whole.
