Many of us have started thinking about how the environment impacts on our daily lives and what easier way to do it than at work. NICVA is promoting environmental awareness by encouraging organisations to think about recycling and recyclable products when purchasing and disposing of equipment within the office.
NICVA’s online product and services directory communitybuyer.org has launched a new environmental campaign to promote suppliers who provide greener options when purchasing, organisations which facilitate access to recycling, plus guidance on environmental issues such as sustainability and energy efficiency.
One company which is listed for its recycling services is AMI (Asset Management Ireland Ltd), an electrical equipment recycling company that has been working with the voluntary and community sector for a number of years.
Rosaleen Dempsey from RNIB Northern Ireland commented:
"The AMI scheme is excellent. It has allowed us to give computer and internet access to blind and partially sighted young people who may have otherwise been excluded."
