Give a little online

Community NI's online donations facility launches today, and we're pleased to tell you a little about the first charity to sign up: C.A.U.S.E. for Mental Health. Find out more about how to donate online.

C.A.U.S.E. for Mental Health is a local charity supporting carers and families of people with serious mental illness.

People with serious mental health problems, such as schizophrenia, bi-polar disorder (manic depression) or severe depression, and their carers and families often experience disadvantage and prejudice.

C.A.U.S.E’s innovative ‘Relative Reach’ programme provides emotional and practical support to local carers and families, reducing stress and isolation, making a lasting difference to people’s lives.

C.A.U.S.E’s ‘Relative Reach’ programme includes carer advocacy (provided by carer support workers), support groups, a helpline, educational and respite courses, and representation of carers’ views.

During the 2005/6 financial year, there were almost 4,000 ‘carer contacts’ (contact with a local carer / family through any elements of the‘Relative Reach’ programme outlined above).

C.A.U.S.E. relies on the financial support of a limited number of funders to enable the Charity’s vital work to continue and expand.

The Charity is therefore delighted to be offered the opportunity to sign up to NICVA's Online Donation system, for the first time giving donors the chance to donate to the work of C.A.U.S.E. online.
