Consumer chief crowned public sector personality of the year

Eleanor Gill, Chief Executive of the Consumer Council, has been crowned public sector personality of the year at a glittering awards presentation on 04 October.

Eleanor Gill, Chief Executive of the Consumer Council, has been crowned public sector personality of the year at a glittering awards presentation on 04 October. The prestigious event honoured the cream of Northern Ireland business personalities and organisations.

Congratulating her on the award, Steve Costello, Chairman of the Consumer Council said:

"Eleanor is a most worthy recipient of this award and we are delighted that her leadership of the Consumer Council has been recognised and rewarded in this way. Eleanor and the Consumer Council are acknowledged and respected in Northern Ireland as consumer champions and their work is also recognised in the UK, ROI and beyond.

"Eleanor is committed to gaining recognition for consumers’ vital role in the economy and society and this was recognised by the University of Ulster’s award to her of Visiting Professor in the Faculty of Business and Management.

"She passionately represents all consumers and her commitment has brought many positive changes for people across Northern Ireland."

The Public Sector Personality of the Year category looked for a public sector or government individual who has made a significant contribution with their work impacting on and contributing to the business and economic sector.

The awards presentation took place at the Culloden Hotel and was a joint venture between Business Eye magazine and local broadcaster, UTV.
