The award acknowledges the hard work that the five Story Finder groups from Belleek, Castlederg, Dervock, Limavady and Newry have contributed to the Story Finders site: www.storyfinders.co.uk. These range from local folklore, old photographs, children’s art work, humorous stories, diary excerpts, music from local artists and bands, poetry, rich audio and video clips - all making the site an abundant source of information and news across the province.
Each of the five groups were trained and provided equipment through the Story Finders project to help develop their own independent website which belongs to their community and reflects stories from their area. In fact many of these stories have been featured on radio and television, such as most recently the successful Bessbrook Mill Nostalgia Night on BBC Newsline, which was organised by the Newry Story Finders group, alongside other community groups.
Story Finders Co-ordinator Evelyn Ellison and Project Assistant Cathy Moorehead were very happy to accept the Rich Media Award from Frank McGonagle of MyGroupNI, on behalf of these five Story Finder groups and to commend them on all of their endeavours and accomplishments.
For more information about the Story Finders project contact Cathy Moorehead at the Story Finders office on telephone no: 02890338013, email: cathy.moorehead@bbc.co.uk or visit the Story Finders website.
The Story Finders project is funded by BBC Northern Ireland, the Department of Finance and Personnel and BT, with support from NICVA.
