Accounting for Charities

The new Charities Bill for Northern Ireland was introduced to the Assembly on 10 December 2007. This will replace the draft Charities (NI) Order 2007. This new bill has stringent requirements for the accounting records which Charities have to keep.

Under the Bill there will be a new Charity Commission for Northern Ireland, which will have responsibility for granting or withdrawing charitable status, one of their requirements being proper books of account!

We are running an “Accounting for Charities” course in June 2008 to ensure charities are well versed in what books and records they need to keep. The course will be run on two dates:

Dates: 10 June 2008 & 17 June 2008
Time: 10.00am-4.30pm
Location: North City Business Centre, 2 Duncairn Gardens, Belfast BT15 2GG
Price: £300 per person or £500 for two people

Session 2 Account transfers
Session 3 Bank Reconciliation
Session 4 Wages
Session 5 Restricted/Unrestricted funds
Session 6 Grants due and carried forward
Session 7 Sage accounts demonstration
