Call to publicise the Socrates programme

The European Commission is awarding grants to activities which publicise the results of projects funded by the EU Socrates programme, which supports education and lifelong learning.

BookThe idea behind the scheme is to raise awareness of the programme and encourage more people to take part in Socrates projects by showing the benefits which this can bring.

To qualify for funding, the activities should involve three stages, as follows:

  • identifying how at least three Socrates projects in three countries met the needs of the participants;
  • organising an event, such as a conference or workshop, to enable Socrates project coordinators and people interested in taking part in a Socrates project to meet; and
  • follow up actions to build on contacts made at the event and to assess whether it was effective in contributing to the development of further Socrates projects.
Universities, schools, teacher training institutes, adult education organisations and other organisations working in the field of education and training are eligible to apply for grants. They should be based in one of the 25 EU Member States, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Bulgaria, Romania or Turkey.

The total amount available for grants is €700,000. No more than €100,000 will be awarded to each project, which can cover up to 75% of a project’s costs. 10-20% of the budget must be used for the follow-up stage of the project.

Activities should start between 1 November and 31 December 2006 and last up to twelve months.
