Peace II Extension Measure 3.1 Local Economic Initiatives for Developing Local Communities

Euro symbolThe Peace II Programme aims to help Northern Ireland become a stable and peaceful society and to promote reconciliation in Northern Ireland and the Border Regions of Ireland.

Larne LSP is currently open for applications under the following priorities:

Larne Social Economy Programme

  • Weak community infrastructure in Larne Borough.
  • Encourage networking and communication within and between groups and communities.
  • Encourage all residents to be actively involved in working together for their community supporting community and economic development.
  • Encourage volunteering throughout the community and help attain new volunteers for existing groups.
  • Build capacity within communities to effectively assist the development of projects and sourcing of funding.Support activities which build the capacity of communities to develop new community development opportunities.

Larne Community Infrastructure Programme

  • Support initiatives that build the ‘social entrepreneur’ skills of local communities.
  • Support the implementation of new social economy initiatives.
  • Support to consolidate and improve the performance of existing social economy enterprises.
  • Support the development of facilities in the Borough to assist small businesses, inward investment, community enterprises and the social economy.
  • Support job creation and income generating opportunities.
  • Support projects aimed at developing disadvantaged neighbourhoods or groups.
  • Support projects which improve the environment for local communities.

The closing date for applications is Tuesday 28th February 2006 at 4.00pm
