If so, why not nominate them for the BBC's search for Sports Unsung Hero of 2007?
The sea
rch for sport's Unsung Hero, sponsored by Robinsons, is taking place across the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland is one of the designated regions. They are looking for an individual who, on a voluntary basis, makes a difference to sport within the NI region.
In order to qualify for this award the person
Bursaries of up to £2,500 are available to winners of each regional award, to help them with their work in sport. The bursaries are intended materially to benefit and further the work each Unsung Hero has been doing to help sport in the community.
Examples of things the bursary might cover are sports equipment, construction/repair of facilities and/or court, pitch or venue hire. It is important to note the bursaries cannot be used for administrative costs, social events, holidays, salaries or hospitality.
Olympic gold medallist Dame Mary Peters is among those supporting this year's initiative.Dame Mary said:
The Northern Ireland winners regional Unsung Hero will then be invited to the BBC Sports Personality of the Year programme on Sunday 9 December 2007 where an overall winner will be announced.
