Environmental protection 2006

The objective of these actions is to raise awareness amongst European Citizens and to provide information on environmental issues/solutions and on relevant EU actions in those fields.

For guidance, Environment DG is planning to assist between 16 and 30 projects, allocating a total sum of approximately €2,360,000 over projects which should address the following eight different themes:

• Environmental communication and awareness raising
• Promoting the European tourism sector on the Natura 2000 nature conservation programme;
• Green forest management network for renewable energy;
• International dialogues on the post 2012 climate change regime;
• Researching suitable solutions for air pollution in Russia;
• NGO twinning in the candidate countries, the Balkans, the Western NIS and the Mediterranean countries;
• Scheme to support peer review of national sustainable development strategies;
• Building partnerships between financial institutions, public authorities and NGOs.
