Sports Minister Maria Eagle said:
The selection panel included representatives from the Department of Culture, Arts and Leisure, the Sports Council for Northern Ireland, the Strategic Investment Board and Department of Finance and Personnel's Central Procurement Division.
Each of the prospective bidders will now be invited to submit a full business case and economic appraisal for further consideration by government."
The Minister went on to say:
The Minister added: "Preparations for the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games are creating a stir across the UK. For Northern Ireland this is an important opportunity to create better sporting facilities which will leave a legacy, both social and economic, for generations to come."
Details of the second competition for Capital Grant funding for the provision of high performance sports facilities for other Olympic and Paralympic sports in Northern Ireland will be announced shortly.
