Employing Migrant Workers in Social Care

Poise Project (Lead Partner ARC NI) Small Logo

Do you have experience of involving migrant workers within social care services? Would you like to share your experience with others? We would like to hear from you if you're based in the UK or Ireland.Ireland.

ARC (NI) in conjunction with the University of Ulster is undertaking research into migrant workers within the social care workforce.

Our goal is to document good practice in the recruitment, selection and retention of migrant workers, especially in learning disability services but also in the wider social care workforce. If you have experience of employing migrant workers in your services over the past two years, we would value a few minutes of your time to answer questions relating to their recruitment, retention and ongoing support.

We can offer three ways of supplying the information.

  1. You can download and complete the pro forma and return it to a Freepost address: Professor Roy McConkey, School of Nursing, FREEPOST NAT4851, University of Ulster, Newtownabbey, BT37 0QB, Northern Ireland.
  2. You can complete it online by logging on through the Internet to this web address: http://www.science.ulster.ac.uk/nursing/migrant
  3. You can telephone Suzanne Thompson on 028 9075 1454 and give your replies over the phone.

All participants will receive a copy of the final research report, which will also include information gathered from migrant workers and service managers.

We very much hope you will be able to assist us and we look forward to hearing from you. As the research has to be complete by the end of June, we would be grateful if you could return completed questionnaires to by Friday 6 June 2008.

We would also be grateful if you could circulate this questionnaire to other organisations you feel may be interested in participating in the research.
