SHSSB funding for sexual health projects

Funding available for SHSSB Sexual Health Promotion Grants Programme – extension of closing date 29th November 2007

The Southern Health and Social Services Board (SHSSB) is providing funding opportunities for local community and voluntary groups to promote the health and wellbeing of young people.

Breda Teahan, Health Promotion Commissioner with the Southern Board explains: “The Board, in consultation with a range of partner organisations, has identified a number of themes and targets it wishes to address in relation to sexual health promotion. Applications are invited from interested parties for funding to develop programmes or initiatives in the Southern Board’s area.”

Applicants may apply for funding to address community based programmes or initiatives in relation to any of the following:-

  • teenage personal development programmes;
  • parent/child communication;
  • sexual health education for young men;
  • sexual health for gay, lesbian and bi-sexuals;
  • pregnant/parenting teenagers.

Breda continued:

“The Programme is open to individual Community Groups who can apply for a maximum of £1,000 or to a partnership group who together can apply for a maximum of £15,000. We have extended the closing date for applications until Thursday 29 November 2007.”

Applications should be submitted by 4:00pm on the date of closure.
