The Mourne Heritage Trust Small Logo

The Mourne Heritage Trust is responsible for the delivery of Natural Resource Rural Tourism Initiative - NRRTI in the Mourne area.

This is a special initiative within the PEACE II Programme designed to help disadvantaged rural communities maximize the opportunities for tourism development arising from peace, by utilising previously untapped natural and cultural resources in a sustainable manner.

The Mourne Heritage Trust is now calling for applications for the delivery of Rural Tourism
project(s) for the area under the NRRTI. The Project(s) must:

  • Be tourism related.
  • Have the potential to attract visitors to the Mourne area.
  • Be completed and expenditure vouched by December 2006.
  • Meet the objectives of the NRRTI strategy.
  • Not be awaiting any statutory approvals e.g. Planning Permission, EHS consent, Building Control (or have all such statutory approvals in place at the time of application - evidence of this must be submitted with the application).

* Prior to submitting an application, applicants must consult with a member of the NRRTI
staff team to ensure that their proposal meets the essential criteria.
* Projects relating to employment, wages, salaries or running costs will not be considered.
