PEACE III Expressions of Interest

Special European Union Programmes Body Small Logo

This call for expessions of interest is intended to identify project proposals that lead to an application for project funding from the PEACE III programme. The identification of a project does not guarantee that funding will be approved for the substantive project.

The Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB) is the Managing Authority for the PEACE III Programme. The formal consultation on the Draft Operational Programme has now closed and SEUPB is considering responses received. It is expected that approval of the Programme will be received from Ministers and the European Commission in the autumn.

The first call for applications is planned for early autumn and the SEUPB wants to ensure that applicants are in a position to submit proposals when the Programme is rolled out. This will ensure timely implementation of the Programme and avoid the late start which impacted on the Peace II Programme.

Call for Proposals
The SEUPB is seeking to identify project proposals in the eligible region in the following areas of activity:

Contributing to a shared society - creating shared public spaces
The areas within this priority are set out in the Draft Operational Programme (OP). Although the OP is subject to change, it is considered reasonable to proceed on the basis of the draft OP at this time. This objective aims to regenerate urban, rural and border areas that appear derelict, segregated, underused, threatening and/or unwelcoming and transform them into shared spaces. In addition to meeting the Programme and Priority objectives, the successful projects will:
  • act as a catalyst for transforming the local community;
  • be iconic with a capacity to provide a lasting legacy to the PEACE III Programme;
  • incorporate high design and environmental quality;
  • demonstrate long term sustainability; and
  • range in size from €1.5m to €10m.
The call for expressions of interest is intended to lead to an application for project funding from the PEACE III programme. The identification of a project does not guarantee that funding will be approved for the substantive project. It is intended that a regional workshop will be hosted to advance work on the applications of the projects identified.

In order to be considered for attendance at the workshop, expressions of interest should be submitted by 25 May 2007.

Further information on submission of proposals is available from the SEUPB Website, http://www.seupb.org/index.asp
