Comic Relief are keen to encourage applications for their young people's programme from Northern Ireland organisations. An event is being held on 10 December 2007 to encourage and inform potential applicants.

Peter Argall and Debbie Walmsley who manage the Young People's Grants Programmes at Comic Relief are personally visiting Northern Ireland to inform organisations about what makes a successful application to Comic Relief. The session has been organised by by Joe Blake who is the regional adviser in N Ireland.

Any organisation who wants to know more about Comic Relief's funding or is considering making an application to Comic Relief is warmly invited to attend the Information Session.

Comic Relief provides funding to young people under the following programmes:

  • Young People with Mental Health Problems
  • Young People with Alcohol Problems
  • Young People Exploited through Prostitution, Trafficking and the Internet - Comic Relief are particularly keen to hear from projects in this area
  • Domestic Violence Programme

These programmes will fund projects, including staff costs, for up to three years. More information is available on their website www.comicrelief.com.

The information session has been organised to address Comic Relief's concern that they are not getting many fundable applications, especially for the Young People's Grants Programmes. The afternoon's session will provide an insight from the funders themselves into what they are looking to fund in each programme and how to go about applying. They want to spend money! Information will also be available on Comic Relief's other programmes.

The Information Session takes place at NICVA at 2.30pm on 10 December 2007 at NICVA, 61 Duncairn Gardens, Belfast, BT15 2GB.

The session will feature a presentation by Comic Relief and provide opportunity for individuals or groups to speak to Peter Argall, Debbie Walmsley and/or Joe Blake about their projects. The session is expected to end around 4.30pm.

If you do wish to come along please leave details with Joe Blake on joe.blake.associates@ukgateway.net
