The Regional Manager of the Fundraising Standards Board has been appointed and will cover both Scotland and Northern Ireland.
The Fundraising Standards Board (FSB) is announcing the appointment of Kate Higgins as Scotland and Northern Ireland Manager of the new self-regulatory scheme for fundraising. Kate Higgins will promote the FSB to all stakeholders in Scotland and Northern Ireland, particularly to fundraising organisations and the general public. She will also co-ordinate and implement all FSB activity and functions in these countries.
The Fundraising Standards Board is an independent body that has been established to introduce a new self-regulatory scheme for UK fundraising.
The Board is recruiting charities to the scheme from June 2006 and a public launch will take place in the Autumn, alongside the introduction of a robust consumer-facing complaints procedure to ensure compliance with the Codes.
Previously Head of Campaigns and Communications at Capability Scotland for six years, Kate has a track record in public affairs in Scotland. Commenting on her appointment, Kate Higgins says:
“Scottish and Northern Irish fundraising organisations need a direct route to the FSB. Members of the public in Scotland and Northern Ireland need to know they have a channel for complaints and that they can give to their favourite charity with confidence.”
