Bursaries for Investing in Volunteers

Lloyds TSB Foundation for Northern Ireland has kindly provided funding to support development of a small Investing in Volunteers Bursary Scheme in order to widen accessibility of the award in Northern Ireland.

Investing in Volunteers is the UK Quality Standard for all organisations that involve volunteers in their work. It is designed to help volunteer-involving organisations review and improve their volunteer management.

It is a nationally recognised award that allows organisations to publicly demonstrate and promote their commitment to volunteering. The Volunteer Development Agency, the lead organisation for the promotion and development of volunteering in Northern Ireland, has responsibility for the management and rollout of Investing in Volunteers across the Province.

The Lloyds TSB Foundation's Bursary Scheme will provide funding towards the total package costs with successful groups only having to pay £200. Applications will be assessed against set criteria - only groups with an annual income of less than £200,000 need apply.

The scheme will be launched this month and an application pack setting out full criteria will be available. To register interest and to receive a pack, email julie-ann@volunteering-ni.org.

An information session about Investing in Volunteers is planned for 4 September 2008, 10am - 12pm, which would be an opportunity to find out more.

Further information about the Quality Standard is available on the Investing in Volunteers website.
