The Community Relations Council are giving a presentation on current funding programmes available for application in the NICVA Boardroom on Tuesday 8 May at 2.30pm. This event is open to funding advisers, information officers, development workers and anyone with a role in aiding organisations with funding applications.

The Community Relations Council are giving a presentation on current programmes to individuals whose responsibility it is to provide funding advice as a substantial part of their role in community and voluntary activity. This may include; community development workers, funding advice officers, grants officers, community service officers in councils/government departments and community centre/library workers. Currently there is a network of these workers known as the Funding Advice Network.

The Funding Advice Network (FAN) is an informal opportunity to meet funders and other workers to learn more about funding opportunities and techniques.

The network is open to anyone across Northern Ireland who works in funding advice (even if it is just a part of their overall role). Over the past two years members have met with Big Lottery Fund, Lloyd's TSB Foundation, Children in Need, International Fund for Ireland and many other local funders.

If you, or a member of your organisation, have responsibility for providing funding advice as a substantial part of your role in community and voluntary activity, then con join the network. The network is just as appropriate for community development workers, information officers, and network staff as for funding advisers.

Membership of FAN is entirely free. The principle aim is “to support and advance the role of Funding Advice for the community and voluntary sector with individuals across Northern Ireland through networking, resourcing and training.”

The next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday 8 May 2007 at 2.30pm in the NICVA Boardroom. It will be facilitated by Jim Dennison from the Community Relations Council who will be telling us about the current funding programmes open for application and any details on future programmes.

If you would like to attend the next meeting please contact James Laverty on 028 9087 7777 or via email on james.laverty@nicva.org
