Responsible To: Support Officer & Project Manager
Basis of Employment: Contractual with an 11 month probationary period.
Location of Post: 8 Linenhall Street Ballymena

Person Specification
Essential Criteria:
- Good literacy and numeric skills
- A minimum of one years experience working in Social Care or Support with a willingness to undertake training to a standard of NVQ II or above
- or
- A relevant NVQ II or equivalent
- Be able to demonstrate a commitment towards the needs of disadvantaged people
- Be available to work regular unsocial hours
- Be able to demonstrate a commitment towards the Aims and Values of Living Rivers Lighthouse Hostel
Preferred criteria:
- GCSE (A-C or equivalent in English and Maths)
- Previous experience in implementing support programmes, including life skills, both one to one and within group sessions
- A full driving licence and regular access to a motor vehicle
- Word processing and general computer knowledge

- Have good inter-personal and organisational skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion

Job Description
- To provide supervision and support to clients in a manner which is conductive to the good practice of the organisation
- To ensure that all clients have equal access to all services and that no client is adversely disadvantaged on any grounds
- To assist with the provision of support services that will enable clients to develop such skills as may be necessary for them to progress to an independent lifestyle
- To contribute to the delivery of support programmes, both one to one and group sessions
- To ensure the provision of facilities, equipment and accommodation are, at all times hospitable and to a standard that meets with management and legislation
- To complete such administrative records as may be required to enable the maintenance of efficient record keeping and monitoring.
- Liaise with appropriate public, private and voluntary organisations and Living Rivers Trust Staff
- Advise Support Officer, as appointed by management on all aspects of the post holder’s responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with Health and Safety/Equality requirements and legislation, and all other Living Rivers Lighthouse Hostel’s policies and procedures
- Attend additional training and develop own skills as directed by the management team
- Any other duties as may be allocated, appropriate to the post’s grade, including special projects
