The Children and Young People Participation Worker will be responsible for supporting and facilitating the meaningful involvement of children and young people in the development of the family Support Project.

The successful applicant will bring a creative and fun approach to the task of promoting and extending the influence and participation of children and young people in the project planning anddecision making processes.

The proposed family support project aims to bring about lasting improvement in the lives of children and young people, particularly those who are disadvantaged, through both providing a range of additional services and enhancing existing services. The project will be based in the Lurgan and Brownlow area, and in addition, will coordinate new services for children and young people from black and minority ethnic communities throughout the Southern area.

Essential criteria:

  • Hold a relevant University Degree / Diploma or relevant professional qualification eg Dip SW, Youth and Community, Community Development, Social Policy, Education, Health plus two years' experience of working with children and young people, Or
    Have five GCSEs (or equivalent) including English Language at Grade C or above plus
    four years' experience working with children and young people, Or
    Have five years' experience working with children and young people
  • Have experience of organising and facilitating groups
  • Hold a full driving licence and access to a car

Desirable criteria:

  • Have previous community development experience
  • Have previous experience of youth participation work
