The Bytes Project was established in 1993 to promote and support personal development through creative ICT with unattached young people 16-25.

Bytes have currently 10 centres, 9 in Belfast and one centre in Londonderry/Derry and require a Full-time Development Officer

The position is 30 hours per week, part-time and based in Belfast.

In order to further this work Bytes wishes to appoint a Development Officer who can

  1. Competently use ICT and should be familiar with digital media software from a range such as graphics, web development, video production, animation and/or music packages. Some evidence of digital media skills is required at interview.
  2. Work directly with young people; particularly those engaged in risk taking behaviour and assist in enabling them to develop a suitable range of personal, social and ICT skills.
  3. Develop a range of teaching methods that encourages young people to move on into training, education and employment.
  4. Promote networking in and between communities of both traditions.

To be successful you will require

  1. A recognised training or youth work qualification at Level 3 or be currently working towards one.
  2. A minimum of three years experience working in the community/voluntary sector in programme and project management level within the last 5 years.
  3. Proven experience in group facilitation skills.
  4. Proven experience in formulating and implementing effective programmes of action.
  5. Good communication and report writing skills.

The position will be based in Belfast and will involve evening work.

A clean driving licence and access to transport for work purposes or access to another form of transport that would allow the post holder to meet the travel requirements of the post is essential.
