Organisation Background
The National Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE) Ireland is a nonprofit organisation, teaching entrepreneurship to young people to enhance their economic productivity by improving their business, academic and life skills.

NFTE’s strategy for achieving this mission is to form partnerships with schools, universities and community-based organisations, create innovative experiential curriculum, train and support teachers and youth workers, and provide supportive alumni services. At present the programme is being delivered to 750 students in schools and training centres in Dublin and Belfast with plans to expand to Cork, Limerick and Donegal, with a view to reaching 2,100 students by 2012. NFTE Ireland works on a leverage model working closing with US team who service over 150,000 students throughout the states and 13 countries worldwide.

Position
A Programme Officer is responsible for directing programmes to ensure that implementation and prescribed activities are carried out in accordance with the objectives of NFTE. This position is responsible for implementing programme strategy, design of programmes, development of resources to provide programmes to the community, member’s organisations and the organisations governing body. Establishes budget and ensures that the programmes meet the overall objectives of NFTE.

A Programme Officer of the National Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE) is responsible for promoting and implementing NFTE’s experiential curriculum and quality, successful youth entrepreneurship programmes (in school and out of school). This is achieved by developing relationships with teachers, community-based youth workers, fundraisers and business volunteers. It is also expected that the Programme Officer will work directly with young people as a motivational speaker in the classroom in addition to participating in necessary fundraising activities.


Responsibilities

  • Create strategy for new programme recruitment and partnership.
  1. Perform demographic analyses.
  2. Manage inquiries and disseminate marketing materials.
  3. Identify and help promote student success stories to media.
  • Design and implement regional support services for teachers to build their business knowledge and skills in teaching entrepreneurship experientially.
  1. Research, package and disseminate entrepreneurship and teaching resources.
  2. Coordinate teacher meetings, facilitating best-practices sharing among NFTE-trained teachers.
  3. Together with CEO, recruit volunteers as guest speakers, mentors and business plan judges.
  4. Work with local shopping centres / businesses to work as host for Trade Event.
  • Work with school’s administration and teachers to build programme quality and consistency.
  • Manage programme logistics.
  1. Collect and track all programme information and expenses, and prepare information for internal and external reporting.
  2. Oversee programme budget allocations, organise site visits, create programme reports and identify funding needs.
  • Assist with development of an accredited programme in N. Ireland.
  • Assist with development and implementation of Business Volunteer Programme; recruiting corporate and individual volunteers, assign to locations and developing and maintaining volunteer database.
  • Develop and utilise tools to track programme performance and evaluation, coordinate connecting activities, and document qualitative and quantitative programme features.
  • Collaborate with the NFTE Alumni Services to refer students to post-NFTE programme business support services.
  • Collaborate with headquarters and programme offices to capture and share best practices and identify and implement necessary programme evaluation tools.
  1. Event management Coordination of NFTE Ireland All Island Business Plan Awards, NFTE University, BizCamp and liaise with US on International Awards.
  • Assist with financial management of organisation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Minimum five years experience teaching and/or in a business/professional environment required.
  • Experience in an education-related community-based organisation, youth organisation or school environment preferred.
  • Strong organisational skills and detail orientation required.
  • Must be self starter.
  • Strategic planning and implementation as well as project management experience.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills.
  • Working as part of small team of four, the successful candidate must be able to work independently and collaboratively, display strong leadership and organisational skills and be able to manage multiple projects.
  • Customer service orientation.
  • Familiarity with business concepts desirable.
