EGSA wishes to recruit and additional flexible temporary work force able to respond to the changing needs of our service. We are establishing a “bank” of temporary Guidance Advisers and we invite applications from suitably qualified people for the following:

CASUAL GUIDANCE ADVISERS
REF: GN/01/01/08
£11.40 per hour + travel

The successful candidates will provide impartial guidance to individual adults and/ or groups of adults in EGSA premises or in other suitable locations throughout Northern Ireland. EGSA’s offices are based in Belfast, Ballymoney, Craigavon, Derry, Dungannon, East Antrim, Magherafelt, Newry and Omagh. Casual bank staff will be asked to state geographical preference when applying.

The successful candidates must be able to combine the ability to work independently with working as a member of a team. They will enjoy working with the public and motivating others: they will be able to work well under pressure and to relate to people at all levels within and beyond EGSA. They will adopt a sensitive approach to EGSA’s users and will value the organisation’s ethos.

Essential Criteria:

• Hold or be working towards a third level qualification, GCSE English Language (Grades A-C) or equivalent OR a minimum of 5 years experience in a similar role.

• 1 year’s experience of providing educational or vocational guidance, including to adults with essential skills needs and/or with few or no qualifications.

• Experience of developing and/or delivering group guidance or personal development programmes (accredited or non accredited) to adults.

• Extensive knowledge of current adult guidance issues and adult learning issues.

• Ability to effectively plan and organise own work strategy. Communicate clearly ideas and information both in writing and verbally.

• Ability to analyse complex information.

• Flexible approach and willing to work outside normal office hours.

• Access to a form of transport to enable the applicant to meet the full requirements of the post. Consideration will be given to alternative travelling proposals in respect of applicants with a disability who cannot hold a licence.

The hours of work will be as and when required ranging from a few hours per week to longer term opportunities and could include evenings, occasional weekends and Bank Holidays. Successful applicants will remain on the bank at least until 30 September 2008.
