Salary: NJC Point 18-22 (£14, 817- £16,944 pro-rata—progress through scale dependent on attainment of qualifications/skills).
Location: Sure Start Centre, Dungannon.

Sure Start is a Government initiative, which aims to work with parents-to-be, parents and children to promote the development of babies and young children to ensure they can flourish at home and when they get to school. Sure Start in Dungannon covers Dungannon Town, Moygashel and Granville.

We are seeking someone who can work as part of a team, with a mature outlook on life, who has experience of the joys and difficulties of parenting, and can provide practical support and parenting skills to families through home visiting and group support. You will have knowledge and understanding of family and community needs and the ability to relate to people from a variety of backgrounds, and particularly from Portuguese speaking families.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

  • working competence/fluency in Portuguese and English, (reading, writing, speaking)
  • two years demonstrated experience (paid or unpaid in working with families/parents/children in community or family settings
  • experience of working with pre-school children and their families
  • a commitment to securing an appropriate related qualification in the first year, if required (childcare, community work, language skills, driving license)
  • a commitment to equality and respect for diversity.
