The Rural Community Network is one of the leading organisations responsible for promoting community development and networking in rural communities throughout Northern Ireland. It wishes to recruit a Programme Coordinator and a Local Project Officer to help implement a challenging and innovative community development programme, targeting isolated rural housing estates. The programme is managed by a partnership comprising RCN, CFNI, DARD, NIHE and IFI.
Programme Coordinator
Salary: Points 35 to 40 (£25,245 to £29,067) – plus 6.5% pension
The Coordinator will be responsible for the delivery of a community development Weak Community Infrastructure Programme targeted at selected Rural Housing Estates across Northern Ireland. He/she will support and manage the work of 12 Local Project Officers in areas of low community infrastructure. A minimum of four years full-time paid community development experience of working with a range of local groups, networks or partnerships is required. Report writing, capacity building and strategic planning skills are necessary as well as training techniques. Excellent staff and financial management skills, together with evaluation techniques and research skills are also essential as are IT skills, a current valid driving licence and access to transport for work purposes. A third level qualification in Community Development, Community Relations, Social Policy, Rural Development or other relevant qualification is required.
Local Project Officer
Salary: Points 26 to 31 (£19,185 to £22,689) starting at Point 26 – plus 6.5% pension
The Local Project Officer will implement the Rural Community Estates Programme in areas of weak community infrastructure and will be based in Larne. He/she will be required to engage in a local community development process. The successful candidate must have a relevant third level qualification, supported by two years paid full time employment in community development, or five years experience in a community development role. A current valid driving licence and access to transport for work purposes are also essential.
