The Volunteer Support Worker work closely with the Volunteering Development Coordinator in marketing and outreach to increase the number and diversity of volunteers. The Volunteer Support Worker is responsible for the recruitment and management of volunteers for and during the 2008 summer programme.
11 month post, based in Ballycastle, Oct 2007 until 29 August 2008.
Recruitment Responsibilities
- In conjunction with the volunteering development coordinator, develop and implement a recruitment strategy for short-term volunteers that meets the programme and operational needs for the centre.
- Support ongoing volunteer needs assessments.
- Increase the diversity, and number of short term and summer volunteers.
- Ensure that we retain volunteers in the programmes over an extended period of time.
- In line with Corrymeela’s strategic plan, assist in proactively promoting volunteering opportunities in the wider community.
- Identify and build relationships with partner organisations and marketing events to promoting volunteering.
- Be responsive to all volunteering enquiries within the agreed response times. Update and maintain the volunteering enquiry tracking system, and the database for active short term and summer volunteers.
Training Responsibilities
- Review, develop, and deliver training for short term and summer volunteers.
Supervision Responsibilities
- Ensure that Corrymeela provides a safe and supporting environment for short-term and summer volunteers from all backgrounds and traditions.
- Manage the Short Term Volunteer work rota in conjunction with the centre management team.
Evaluation Responsibilities
- Carry out on-going evaluation of short term and summer volunteers and their support and assist in the overall evaluation of the volunteering programme.
Summer Programme Responsibilities
- Review, plan, promote, and coordinate the summer volunteer programme in conjunction with the summer advisory committee and centre management team.
General Responsibilities
- Perform “cover” role (duty management for centre) for one 24 hour period each week (not required during July and August).
- Actively participate in onsite community building activities and participate in relevant meetings.
- Support the work of the Volunteering Development Coordinator and deputise when necessary.
- Any other duties commensurate with this role.
