Centre for Global Education in partnership with the Community Youth Work Team at the University of Ulster Jordanstown invite tenders for a consultancy, Promoting Development Education in Youth Work Training. The research aims to explore opportunities for strengthening the global dimension in youth work training at UUJ. More specifically the consultancy aims to:

  • Map training and research opportunities in Global Youth Work for trainee youth workers in the University of Ulster.
  • Undertake qualitative research with trainee youth workers and academics on the global dimension in youth work to assess the need for, their knowledge of, and interest in, international development issues.
  • Deliver under-graduate training in Global Youth Work to promote development education methodologies, resources and issues.

Timescale and Fee
1 September 2008 – 31 March 2009. The research timescale and days worked within these dates is negotiable. The total amount available for this research is £6,300.00 including VAT and expenses.

Skills Criteria
The following skills and experiences are considered essential toward undertaking this practice-based research project:

  • A working knowledge of the youth sector in Northern Ireland;
  • Experience in organizing and delivering training workshops in the youth sector;
  • Previous research experience;
  • A proven knowledge or background in development education / international development issues;
  • Proven organizational and communication skills both oral and written;
