Funded by the Arts Council Northern Ireland, the successful candidate should have community work experience, excellent computer skills as well as fluency in both Mandarin and English. Project organisation and communication skills are also essential, and a third level qualification is preferred. Familiarity with Chinese arts and culture is highly desirable.

Salary: £16,500 per annum (pro rata).

Job Description


Job Title: Project coordinator

Salary: £ 16,500 per annum (Pro rata)

Responsible to: The Executive Committee of MSA

Working hours: Part-time (20 hours per week)

Purpose of the Role: Working closely with other MSA staff to implement a 3 year outreach and development arts project.


Job Activities and Main Duties

Responsibilities within the project will include:

a) Working alongside another arts project coordinator to implement the planned project, while maintaining deadlines and keeping within the budget.

b) Liaising with artists and art organizations in China in relation to:

  • contracts
  • arranging travel for Chinese Performers
  • inviting artists from China to give talks and demonstrations during the performance.

c) Assisting with the translation of text for the show catalogue/ publicity material.

d) Working as an interpreter during the artist’s talks and demonstrations.

e) Developing an outreach programme which will include liaising with other community groups, arts organizations, schools and arts venues.

f) Regularly updating the Executive Committee of MSA on the project’s progress.

g) Assisting with the writing of reports to the projects funders as and when requested.

h) Evaluating the project.

Responsibilities as an employee of MSA include:

  1. Developing and maintaining good relations with the other community groups, ensuring that relevant information is shared at all times.
  2. Ensuring the MSA office is clean, secure, and well maintained.
  3. Any other tasks deemed appropriate by the Executive Committee.

Flexibility In order to deliver the services effectively a degree of flexibility is needed, and the post holder may be required to perform work not specifically referred to above.

Such duties, however, will fall within the scope of the job at the appropriate grade. This job description will therefore be subject to periodic review with the post holder, to ensure it accurately reflects the duties of the job.

  1. Third level qualification: Essential

Experience

  1. Fluency in both English and Mandarin;
  2. Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office software packages and Chinese Word Processor: Essential
  3. Effective planning and organisational skills: Essential
  4. Experience of liaising with a wide range of people and external agencies: Essential
  5. Good communication skills: Essential
  6. Ability to identify, analyse and report on community issues: Essential
  7. Ability to produce quality work at short deadlines: Essential
  8. Graphic Design experience would be advantageous: Desirable
  9. Experience of all phases of the arts agencies: Desirable
