Key Responsibilities

1. To provide a safe, stimulating and varied programme of play and learning opportunities for children aged 0-4, suitable to the children’s age and stage of development.
2. To promote the social, emotional, physical, creative and intellectual development of children and to work in the interest of children at all times, while ensuring the maintenance and improvement of a welcoming child-centred environment.
3. To contribute to the development of programmes and activities for children specific to their needs and to seek professional advice about changes in a child’s wellbeing.
4. To develop supportive relationships with parents/carers and encourage parental involvement with the project.

Essential Criteria

• NVQ Level 3 in Early Years Care and Education or equivalent.
• 2 years experience in a childcare facility.
• Experience of staff management.
• Knowledge of child development.
• Knowledge of child protection issues and procedures.
• An understanding of the importance of play and the importance of parental involvement.
