Outline of main duties and responsibilities of the post:

The post holder will assist the Horizon Coordinator and Liaison Officer by undertaking
duties in and reporting the following areas of responsibility

  • Approaching schools to introduce the Horizon Project and its benefits to the pupils including participation in curriculum related and other subject areas.
  • Discuss ideas for the setting up of a Horizon Branch in the school.
  • Create and maintain links with staff and pupils and help to plan cluster meetings with local schools. (This would involve incorporating the new school into a district meeting, assisting them to set up district meetings helping them to get involved in an outreach project with another school, setting up one of their own or swelling the number of volunteers in an existing project within the school).
  • Being able to deliver or assist in delivering Community Relations courses. (Applicants will be assisted to undergo training if unqualified in this area)
  • Helping the coordinator with arrangements for all Ireland meetings, and any other meetings throughout the year.
  • Assisting the Coordinator to market the Horizon Project Citizenship Resource Pack to schools.

N.B. Training and support will be given to all applicants if and where necessary regarding this post.
