Save the Children wish to recruit a temporary Finance Administrator for their HR and Finance department.

It will be (15 hours per week) for a two month period until the end of June.

There will be a 2 week probation period.

The main tasks and responsibilities will be to provide backup/support to the Finance Administrator including:

  1. typing and photocopying
  2. checking invoices and expenses claims and prepare cheques for payment
  3. input all petty cash and cheque expenditure onto finance system (PSF)
  4. input all BACS payments and income paid into bank onto finance system
  5. prepare and make bank lodgements
  6. receive and review weekly bank statements
  7. receive and review credit card statements
  8. prepare petty cash and bank reconciliations
  9. raise invoices for sale of publications
  10. providing an accurate word processing/typing service
  11. photocopying, collating documents and papers
  12. maintaining filing systems and procedures
  13. maintain asset register, annual leave record and sick and special leave records on excel spread sheets.

The person appointed should be able to demonstrate experience in a similar position including:

  1. practical accounting knowledge and good analytical skills
  2. experience of email and word processing packages - preferably Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook)
  3. excellent organisational skills - ability to produce timely and accurate work, to plan and prioritise workload and work with minimal supervision
  4. basic knowledge of excel spreadsheets
  5. good verbal communication skills in order to deal confidently with people at all levels over the telephone and in person
  6. to accurately type and present correspondence and reports to a professional standard
  7. ability to follow instruction and demonstrate good organisational skills with a methodical approach to a range of tasks
  8. to be able to understand the need for confidentiality and demonstrate experience in dealing with confidential matters.
