Belfast Healthy Cities is the partnership organisation that has responsibility in Belfast for the implementation of the World Health Organisation (WHO) requirements within the local context.

The core themes for Phase IV 2003 - 2008 of the WHO Network are

1. Health Impact Assessment.
2. Healthy Urban Planning.
3. Healthy Ageing.

The regional interdepartmental public health strategy, Investing for Health, strongly endorses the Healthy Cities approach.

We are seeking to appoint an individual to provide maternity cover until 31 March 2007, who will take forward specific areas of action within the above themes.

Secondment to the post will be considered. Candidates should seek the support of their employer before applying.

Role: Health Development Officer

Salary Scale: £22,087 - £25,842. Fixed term until 31 March 2007

The successful applicant will require:

• a relevant degree and two years experience of project planning or research development work or
• five years experience of project planning or research development work.
