Regional Officer
Fixed-term contract for up to 6 months (subject to 4 weeks notice)
Starting salary £35,242 per annum (pro rata) plus car
Northern Ireland
Are you ready to make a difference as one of our Regional Officers?
Your role will be to advise and assist Branches to recruit, organise and represent UNISON members. You will act as a representative in collective and individual negotiations, reflecting members’ interests and promoting NEC policy. Co-ordinating training activities, you will develop members to play an active role within the union. You will also make sure that Branches and other UNISON bodies operate in accordance with our rules and objectives. As well as representing our members’ aims and ambitions to employers, the media and other organisations, you will take part in appropriate internal Regional meetings.
Able to work on your own initiative to achieve results, you will have the experience and confidence to make decisions on interpreting UNISON policy and referring members’ issues. With strong negotiation skills, you will need effective judgement and the ability to motivate others through your organisational and decision-making abilities. You should have experience of all issues relating to member representation and recruitment, together with excellent report writing and presentation skills. An appreciation of regional issues and circumstances and knowledge of structure and policies of UNISON is desirable. Your responsibilities will involve a degree of travel around your individual region. You should understand the aims of the Trade Union Movement and share our commitment to its principles.
