This service will be operational from September 1st 2007. This is an independent conciliation service for disabled people with disputes relating to the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 (as amended) and the Special Educational Needs and Disability (Northern Ireland) Order 2005.
The service will be funded by ECNI but run “at arms length” in order to be impartial and independent. Mediation Works, current providers of the Disability Conciliation Service in England Wales and Scotland, have been commissioned to provide this service through a network of local conciliators. We are therefore looking to recruit as soon as possible -
Locally based freelance mediators (conciliators) possibly with a background in disability and/or SEN issues. You will undertake both face to face and telephone conciliation work, supported by a local case coordinator. Administrative support will be from our head office in Wellington, Shropshire.
A locally based part-time case coordinator (9 hours per week). This post should ideally be combined with one of the conciliator post.
Training will be given to meet the requirements of these posts.
Mediation Works is an equal opportunities employer and welcomes applications from all areas of the community.
