In Northern Ireland, Habitat for Humanity is a Christian cross community movement for regeneration and reconciliation within and between communities in Northern Ireland and around the world.

Community-based self-build housing programmes focus on volunteerism, skills and leadership development in conflict and post-conflict settings.

Salary: £18,450 - £22,293 (under review)

Due to the continued success and development of our activities in Northern Ireland, we intend to appoint a Project Development Officer for Habitat for Humanity Northern Ireland (HFHNI).


This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in a challenging role that contributes directly to the development of HFHNI. The successful candidate will be a self starter who is capable of prioritising their own work to achieve the organisation's strategic objectives.

The post holder will be a member of the NI Programme team and will be responsible for assisting in the development of community-based, volunteer supported, self-build projects to provide affordable homes in disadvantaged areas. He/she will be involved in research and feasibility in regard to project opportunities and in engaging community support.

The skills and experiences required for this post include:

  1. Proven planning and organisational skills.
  2. Experience in the facilitation and development of groups.
  3. Experience in managing projects.
  4. Excellent written and presentation skills.
  5. Sympathetic to the ethos, vision and values of the organisation.

It is essential that the post holder has either a relevant third level qualification (i.e. psychology, community development, social sciences or other relevant discipline), or two years' experience in the voluntary and community sector or a social housing organisation.
