The Centre of Contemporary Christianity in Ireland looks back at its first annual conference.
The Centre for Contemporary Christianity in Ireland held its first annual conference entitled 'Singing the Lord's song in a strange land' in the Seagoe Hotel, Portadown on 5 November.
Theologians Stuart and Sian Murray Williams explored how the culture of postmodernity and the post-Christendom era have brought about a significant shift in western society.
Over seventy participants, many from south of the border, brought a creative mix of experiences and ideas to the theme.
It was acknowledged that churches face new challenges, but new opportunities also. What fresh expressions of church may be needed in this new context?
Further seminars on this theme are planned by the Centre for 2006.
