For the second seminar of the ‘Beyond the Box’ series of public forums, The Junction and the Hard Gospel have chosen to address the issue of remembrance under the engaging title of ‘Remembrance…Whose story is it anyway?’ The objective of this series of talks is to address the hard issues in today’s Northern Ireland and to enable new and creative thinking that goes beyond the predictable.
The seminar on Thursday, 7December at The Junction will bring together Alan McBride, WAVE trauma centre and Gerry O’Hara, former Sinn Fein Mayor of Derry/Londonderry. Prof Gillian Robinson, INCORE, will be chairing the session.
Amongst others, the speakers will be encouraged to address the following issues:
In a joint statement, Earl Storey (Hard Gospel) and Audrey Guichon (The Junction) said:
“These are hard questions. But they are questions that need to be addressed and we need to face up to the challenges they represent if society in Northern Ireland is to move forward. Remembrance is one of the most challenging issues still prevailing. We need to make discussion about remembrance possible and to engage with the heart of such issues that are creating or worsening societal divisions.”
The seminar is open to all and is free of charge. A light lunch is provided.
