The second meeting of the Local and Global Poverty Policy Forum will take place at NICVA on Tuesday 20 May 2008 from 10.30am to 12.30pm. The meeting will look at the causes of poverty at local and global levels and the aim of this forum is to enhance the capacity of organisations active on the issues of local and/or global poverty to build links with each other, make policy responses, and participate in policy development.

There will be a case study focusing on the work of The Link Family and Community Centre in Newtownards, and Paul McGill of NICVA will provide an overview of local poverty structures.

The forum was formed in October 2007 and is jointly chaired by Lawrence McBride from Trocaire and Linda McClelland from War on Want NI.

Membership is drawn from across the voluntary and community sector. It is open to any organisation with an interest in coming together on a regular basis to network, share experiences and knowledge and develop policy positions to address poverty.

For more information on the forum or to confirm your attendance, contact jonny.currie@nicva.org.
