The course seeks to address some of the common questions, problems and issues encountered. It provides useful guidelines and tips for the commissioners of evaluation to ensure that they get best value and more effectively plan, manage and quality assure the process.

Course objectives:

  • To increase understanding of the concepts and processes involved in commissioning an external evaluation
  • To enable participants to identify ‘terms of reference’ for their external evaluation
  • To enable participants to select and recruit an appropriate evaluator
  • To clarify roles and responsibilities to ensure the effective management of external evaluation
  • To enable participants to deal with draft reports including criteria to judge the quality of an evaluation report
  • To highlight the importance of using and disseminating evaluation findings

Participants on this course can receive an ILM (Institute of Leadership and Management) Development Award for an additional charge of £45.
